Feel Good Movie

I haven't had time to do my research for this blog lately, and so I decided to post my pick of movie for the day. I haven't had a chance to see FAME, but last weekend I had the opportunity to see Tyler Perry's movie entitled, I Can Do Bad All By Myself. I have to admit that this was my first Tyler Perry movie I have ever seen and so I was skeptical at first. However, it turned out to be such a great movie!! I am thankful that there are producers out there who can still make good wholesome quality movies with good messages. I loved the musical numbers and actually got teary-eyed many times throughout the movie.

Happy Day at the Ball Park

This is the link to the sweetest story I have seen in a long time at the ball park. A little girl goes to the baseball game with her daddy and he ends up catching a foul ball. What happens next is so funny.... look for yourself:

A 16-year-old Hero Jumps to the Rescue

According to NYdailynews.com
A sixteen year old girl was hailed as a hero on Wednesday, August 19th for saving a bus full of kids after the driver dropped dead behind the wheel. This girl, Rachel Guzy, did not even know how to drive, but she reacted quickly and jumped into the seat and pulled the emergency break. It slowed the bus down right before crashing into a minivan.
So many people could have died that day, but this young hero's actions saved numerous lives that day.

The Weather is Cooling Down

Summer is nearly over and the cool Fall season is approaching. Go outside and enjoy the crisp cool air that surrounds you if you are able. Getting fresh air not only revitalizes your spirit and soul, but also will help you maintain your physical health. Most of us spend the majority of the time indoors in stagnant air. We need to open the windows and let the fresh air into our homes when we can. At work, we should go outside and go for a walk during our break. These tips will help you in many ways.

Hurricane season is in full swing, but so far we have had only a fraction of the hurricanes we had at the same time last year. We should all be thankful for the mild weather and the beautiful sunshine. Also, it looks like the drought season is coming to an end in our region of the South. The lakes look great and the water levels in the rivers look wonderful.

It's a Wonderful Life #8 - #10

I decided to summarize the last three reasons that were mentioned in the February issue of Reader's Digest. Enjoy!!

#8. The platinum age of television
There are definitely some quality shows on television these days. There is the History Channel and Discovery Channel... to name a few. There is a lot of competition and therefore the producers have to make quality shows to maintain their audience. That's definitely a good thing.

#9. Retreat from Armageddon
There were about 50,000 nuclear warheads aimed between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. We have come a long way since then. They have agreed to get rid of 90 percent of then, and tens of thousands have already been eliminated. Gregg Easterbrook observes in his book The Progress Paradox, "Historians will view nuclear arms reduction as such an incredible accomplishment that it will seem bizarre in retrospect so little attention was paid while it was happening."

#10. Memories (this is my favorite one)
We've got better memory-improvement drugs. If that isn't enough, we've got digital photos, videos, and many other resources such as the web that help us to store our precious memories. In the past only the very educated or very rich had the type of resources we have today. We have the technology and means to be able to preserve pictures for our posterity and to pass down our memories to future generations.... and to possibly remind them to count their blessings.
